Lama Zopa Rinpoche: Life Practice Advice and Prayers for his Swift Return

One of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s highest priorities was providing guidance to students’ requests for advice on daily and lifetime practices.  The FPMT has many resources to access his advice.    Learn more HERE.

The worldwide FPMT family is making 24/7 recitations to ensure the swift return of our most beloved and precious Rinpoche.  It's easy to sign up, and all are welcome!  Learn more HERE

Prayers and Mantras for our precious Teachers

We honor our teachers and deepen our connection to them by praying for their long life or swift return.

Many years ago we requested a long life prayer for Geshe Gelek from his teacher, Khensur Rinpoche, who recommended that, without a long life prayer, we should say 200,000 Green Tara mantras each year for our teachers' long lives.  We recite the mantra regularly at the Center, and invite those who feel a close connection to Geshe Gelek and Geshe Sangpo to join in!

We now have long life prayers for both Geshe Gelek and Geshe Sangpo, which we received in 2023. We have maintained the Tara mantra count into this year, and will discontinue it when the year ends. Of course, many students who are devoted to both our teachers and to Tara will continue to say the mantras and dedicate them to our precious Geshes' long lives.

Green Tara Mantra:  OM TARE TUTARE TURE SOHA

Our total Tara mantras counted as of August 27, 2024:  755,675

How to participate in classes and events at Kadampa Center

Our programs are offered in a variety of formats depending on the class or event.  Please refer to the Kadampa Center CALENDAR to confirm how each program is being offered. Determine which of the following options works best for you based on these descriptions:

  1. IN PERSON:  Participating in person means the class or event will be held in the gompa or on the grounds.  This is the very best way to participate!  Not only is this the most interactive way to participate, you also have the added benefit of being in the presence of the teacher, other sangha members, holy objects, and the community of other practitioners.

  2. ZOOM:  Participating via Zoom is a good option if you do not live locally or cannot physically come to the Center for other reasons.  This option is somewhat interactive.  PLEASE NOTE:  If you attend Kadampa Center programs via Zoom, we ask that you have your camera on, whenever possible, and participate as though you are part of the class and in the presence of the teacher.  All of our teachers can see Zoom participants on-screen, therefore you are encouraged not to eat or otherwise be occupied while attending class on Zoom.

  3. LIVE STREAM via YouTube: This is a non-interactive, view-only option.  Kadampa Center volunteers are no longer monitoring chat on YouTube.  If you'd like a more interactive experience, please plan to join using one of the other options above.
