Support Nuns at Dolma Ling Nunnery

Re-igniting Buddhism in Central Asia

In partnership with FPMT Mongolia, Kadampa Center is offering the opportunity to support the nuns of Dolma Ling Nunnery near Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Dolma Ling Nunnery is now home to over 20 Mongolian nuns. These pioneering nuns are the first generation of Dharma practitioners in a newly liberated Mongolia. What they learn, what they translate, and what they believe will now be passed on to a growing community of Dharma practitioners in Mongolia. All nuns have taken vows and live full time in the nunnery, doing prayers, pujas, memorising and studying Tibetan all day.

To take advantage of this opportunity, you can make a commitment of $260 per year to sponsor a nun.

Your annual sponsorship donation will help cover the nunnery's two major costs: fuel and food. Mongolia is extremely cold in the winter - as low as minus 40°C. The cost of fuel is quite high and, as you can imagine, heat and light are an absolute necessity in the bitter, dark winter climate. Over one-half of your contribution will be used to buy enough coal, wood and electricity to keep the nunnery warm and lit. The rest will be used to purchase food for the nuns so they can receive nutritious, healthy meals daily.

The nun you are assigned will receive your name and address. You can send photos and letters back and forth. If you cannot afford the full $260, you can get together with a friend or family member to provide to pool your resources. The donation can be made on a annual, semi-annual, or quarterly basis if that makes it more manageable for you financially.

Your donation is tax-deductible, to the full extend as allowed by the law. Please consult with your tax advisor.
