Assistant Facilities Manager

Overview of position:
This role will assist Facilities Manager in overseeing volunteers particular to the tasks named below and possibly overseeing additional volunteers needed for special projects, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities
Number of Hours per Week:  variable; from as little as 2 to 5 hours a week.  To assist Facilities Manager in the following duties:

Grounds
Assist Facilities Manager with:
- coordinating general mowing, trimming, hedges
- overseeing or staffing parking lot during special events
- participating and working with garden team

Storage shed
- Assist in regular cleaning and organizing of sheds

Repairs
- When Facilities Manager is unavailable, meet with Contractors and/or volunteers for repairs of plumbing, HVAC, building, electrical, etc.
- Contact Facilities Manager to provide updates on repair or if repair scopes change beyond initial repair

Building Use
Thermostats
- Serve as back up for programming thermostats in gompa, common areas, and classroom building according to regular usage schedules

Qualifications
-  Start Date:  flexible, as soon as is practical
- Involvement with the Center for at least two years
- Current Center Member in good standing
- Respect for the teaching of the Buddha and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Vision
- A strong desire to work harmoniously with others in accordance with the FPMT Ethical Policies
Ideal skills:
-  at least basic handy skills and some interest in building and fixing things; familiarity and comfort with the basics of tools and tinkering
- skill in coordinating teams of volunteers in a manner that enhances volunteers’ abilities to offer service in joyful effort
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with other Center leadership and volunteers
- Proven track record of dependability
- Initiative and ownership of the position
- Preferably live within 15 minutes of the Center

Reporting Mechanisms (across Center structure)
- Facilities Manager will oversee this position
- This role will assist Facilities Manager in overseeing volunteers particular to the tasks named above and possibly additional volunteers needed for special projects, etc.
