Welcome to Kadampa Center!

Changes to Light of the Path location and dates

Because of obstacles to getting visas for travel to the US for Rinpoche’s attendants/lama gyupas, the Light of the Path Retreat has moved to Kopan Monastery, where it will take place from September 3 to 17.

While we at Kadampa Center are disappointed that Rinpoche and Light of the Path won’t be able to come to North Carolina this year, we are very happy that the retreat can go ahead, and that Rinpoche will continue these wonderful teachings!

We are so thankful to Kopan for stepping up at short notice to host the retreat. They are still in the midst of planning, and expect to open registration April 1. Find out more here.

We hope to see you all again when the retreat can once again come to North America!

Tara mantras for our Geshes' long lives

We honor our teachers and deepen our connection to them by praying for their long lives.  At Kadampa Center's request, our Geshes' teacher, Khensur Rinpoche, recommended we say 200,000 Green Tara mantras each year for our teachers' long lives. We recite the mantra regularly at the Center, and invite those who feel a close connection to Geshe Gelek and Geshe Sangpo to join in!

Our total Tara mantras counted as of Feb. 19, 2023:  186,220

Total count for 2022: 3,235,324

Total count for 2021: 3,745,796

Total count for 2020: 2,946,700
