Franz Reichle's documentary about the wonders of Tibetan medicine makes a compelling argument for the integration of Eastern approaches to healing with Western medicine, while throwing the destruction of Tibetan culture and human rights at the hands of the Chinese into painful relief. Reichle's camera follows Dr. Tenzin Choedrak (physician to the Dalai Lama, who also makes an appearance) and Chimit-Dorzhi Dugarov, two Tibetan physicians who employ a 2,000-year-old art of healing that incorporates traditional medicine with the doctrines of Buddhism, utilizing the curative powers of herbs, roots and fruits while situating the body and its ailments ...
