Buddhism in a Nutshell is an introductory course that provides an overview of Tibetan Buddhist philossophy and practice. It is suitable for students encountering Buddhism for the first time, as well as for those who have heard or read some Buddhist teachings but would like a more structured approach to understanding the path to enlightenment as taught by Shakyamuni Buddha. The course is based on the teachings found in the book, Buddhism in a Nutshell, by Lama Yeshe, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and Venerable Amy Miller.
The basic Tibetan Buddhist topics covered include:
- The life of Shakyamuni Buddha
- The Four Noble Truths
- The Three Principle Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment
- Buddhist meditation practices
This 5-week course runs Tuesday evenings November 14 - December 12, 2023, and the instructor is Karen Mastroianni.
