Register to take Eight Mayhayana Precepts on Lhabab Duchen 2024
REGISTER TO TAKE the EIGHT MAHAYANA PRECEPTS on LHABAB DUCHEN HOLY DAY |
|
Register below to take the Eight Mahayana Precepts for the first time with Geshe Gelek, at 6:30am on Friday, November 22, 2024. Because Lhabab Düchen is a Buddha holy day, all meritorious actions we take are multiplied exponentially, so it's very auspicious to start the day with the Eight Mahayana Precepts. The precepts are a set of vows taken before sunrise and last for 24 hours. Interested? Learn more about the Eight Mahayana Precept vows HERE. |
STUDENTS TAKING PRECEPTS FOR THE FIRST TIME
-
These precepts must be taken from a qualified master the first time they are taken; afterward the student may take them any time -- at home before their altar or at the Center with other students.
-
If you wish to take precepts for the first time, please register below.
-
Knowing it may be difficult to get up and get to the Center before dawn please consider carefully before you register, and make sure you can commit to being at the Center by 6:15 am.
-
You are, however, welcome and encouraged to join us at the Center and take precepts with Geshe Gelek and other students.
STUDENTS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN PRECEPTS
-
There is no need to register if you have EVER taken precepts from a qualified master in the past. You are, however, welcome and encouraged to take precepts at Kadampa Center with other students on Lhabab Duchen holy day at 6:30 am. Geshe Gelek will be at the Center to offer precepts before sunrise. He will return later, at 1:00pm, and will then lead students in lamrim meditations and practices.
-
If you have previously taken precepts from a qualified master and you'd like to take precept vows on Lhabab Duchen, but would rather not come to the Center in person, then you can plan to take the precepts at home at your home altar. If you are not sure how to do this, please contact Donna.
