Register to take Precepts on Chokhor Duchen 2018

Eight Mahayana Precepts are a set of vows taken for 24 hours.  These precepts must be taken from a qualified master the first time; afterward the student may take them any time -- at home before their altar, or at the Center with other students.

We are asking all students who wish to take precepts at the center to register by Friday, July 13, so that we can plan better.

Geshe Gelek or Geshe Sangpo will offer precepts if students who wish to take precepts for the first time, request it. You can request the vows by registering.

There is great benefit to doing spiritual practice together. Geshe Sangpo says that sweeping the floor with a single straw would not be very effective, but several straws joined together become a broom, the perfect tool for cleaning.  Likewise, when we join with one another in spiritual practice, we increase the power of our practice.

For certain, Kadampa Center will hold the precepts ceremony on Chokhor Duchen. If there are no new students taking them for the first time, then students who have taken them previously and wish to do so in a group are welcome to come and we'll take them together
