Job Description

The Care Squad Coordinator will coordinate between members with requested needs (see care squad initial guidelines) and a group of volunteers, who have identified areas where they are willing to provide assistance. The role of the coordinator is to screen requests per guidelines from members and work with a database of volunteers to initiate the process of matching a volunteer to the person making the request. 

Purpose:  The Care Squad Coordinator will help to build community, give our members a chance to show generosity to our community, and give members a way to get help when needed. 

Responsibilities:
• Recruit and communicate with volunteers
• Keep updated spreadsheet of volunteers’ info, including telephone numbers, email address, and the volunteer’s area of offered assistance
• Work closely and communicate frequently, in all phases, with Chaplain
• Screen needs from requesting members
• Field, screen, and prioritize member requests for assistance
• Coordinate between volunteers and those in need, placing a high priority on respecting privacy of both parties
• Dispatch  volunteers in response to need requests
• Communicate about the program and what it provides to both volunteers and members
• Periodically update Care Squad web page
• Keep updated information on referral resources
• Hold periodic meetings of volunteers
• Attend monthly Chaplain Support team meetings

Qualifications:
Remain flexible when needed to do other tasks in support of the Care Squad
Maintain high level of confidentiality
Strong desire or interest in helping support people in difficult times
Very strong communication skills (Verbal via email, face to face, telephone)
Visible present at center-ie: generally here once a week
Organized
Work well independently/take initiative and ownership of the role
Comfort with being liaison between those seeking and those offering support
The ability to communicate compassionately
Enjoy listening to others during difficult times
Good boundary setting skills, comfort with saying no
Skill in management of others
Comfort with computer in order to post on VolunteerSpot regularly; also Google docs and/or Drop Box and Excel
Willingness to periodically update referral resources

 

Time commitment:  Available 15min daily to check Email/Voicemail. At first anticipated needed time is 1-2 hours a week and it could grow to more as time progresses.
