Community Update

July 1, 2021

Dear Ones,

Kadampa Center’s volunteer leadership continues to implement the center’s phased reopening to reconnect our community and enable us to enjoy the physical space of the gompa. Starting July 11, we invite you to view Geshe Gelek’s teachings via YouTube in the gompa on Sundays at 10:30 am. This gives us an opportunity to come together for the teachings and to transition to hosting live Sunday teachings in the gompa.

One frequent concern is safety protocols. During the past months, we have experimented with registration for various in-person programs, and while there are some advantages, it can limit attendance unnecessarily. We anticipate the number of people attending in-person offerings will not be large enough to cause concern, so registration is not required at this time. Some seats will be blocked, and we kindly ask you to continue to wear a mask while inside the building for gatherings, regardless of individual vaccination status. We know that masks help to limit the spread of viruses and therefore can provide a benefit to all sharing a space for an hour. This step may also ease anxiety for some.

After a long and successful year of offering virtual programming, the Family Program is currently on summer break. Specific in-person offerings for the Kadampa Kids will be announced once planned and will be in accordance with current health recommendations for our youth.

We are very excited about this next phase and building the framework for next steps. Again, be assured that Kadampa Center will continue offering teachings and classes online for those who prefer to avoid gatherings. Thank you for your continued participation and support of Kadampa Center activities. Please let us know if you have questions, concerns, or helpful suggestions.

With love and appreciation,
