Composting at Kadampa Center

EXCITING NEWS!Kadampa Center is now using a composting service and YOU can use it too! Simply bring your household compostables to Kadampa Center and place them in the black CompostNow bin located outside by the side door on the east of the building and is accessible anytime! CompostNow can take much more than a backyard compost pile because they process our compostables at an industrial-scale facility.
Here's what IS compostable:
- All food scraps cooked or raw (veggies, fruit, dairy, fish, meat, and small bones)
- Coffee grounds and filters
- Egg shells and paper egg cartons
- Flower arrangements
- Household plants and soil
- Items labeled BPI Certified Compostable
- Loose tea
- Paper towels and napkins
- Paper (not shiny or glossy)
- Pet food
- Pizza boxes
Here's what is NOT accepted:
- Baby diapers or pet waste bags
- Candles
- Cigarette butts or tobacco
- Clams or oysters shells
- Fire place or BBQ ash
- Dryer lint or sheets
- Floss
- Items labeled "biodegradable"
- Metal or aluminium
- Plastic
- Styrofoam meat trays
- Synthetic corks
