49 Days of Prayer for Orion Saah

Many in our community are seeking ways to help the family of Orion Saah, who passed away September 9. For now, the family is more than covered with daily offerings of food. As the Saahs' faith community, we can offer spiritual support for Orion and his family. One of the best ways we can do this is to offer prayers for Orion's peaceful passage through the bardo, and his happy, beneficial rebirth.  There also will be a Memorial service for Orion on Wednesday, September 22.

The bardo is an intermediate state between this life and the following rebirth. One can remain in the bardo for up to 49 days. In Orion's case, this period ends Wednesday, October 27.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche has very kindly compiled eight prayers that are particularly helpful to benefit the dead. Geshe Gelek advises that any or all of these prayers may be said. 

It is also beneficial to say the Chenrezig mantra - OM MANI PADME HUM

When setting your intention and dedicating your prayers, remember that Geshe-la has taught us that the more beings we include in our dedications, the better. We can expand our hearts and our practice to include others who have recently died and their grieving families, and others who are suffering in samsara.
