Khensur Rinpoche confers Kriya Tantra Empowerment

~ White Tara Long Life ~

In a rare and precious opportunity, Khensur Rinpoche will confer a White Tara Kriya Tantra empowerment at Kadampa Center.
Sunday, November 27, 10:30 am
This is a Kriya Tantra empowerment, one of the lower levels of tantra initiation.  Students who choose to take the full empowerment must have taken Refuge and take bodhisattva vows (given during the initiation).  Students taking the full empowerment should have a good intelluctual understanding of the three principal aspects of the path.
Students who choose NOT to take the full empowerment are highly encouraged to take the empowerment as a blessing only.  Although taking the empowerment as a blessing does not require vows, it is still incredibly powerful and auspicious to receive the empowerment as a blessing.

Khensur Rinpoche's final Sunday!

After the empowerment, we will have an opportunity to make offerings to Khensur Rinpoche and all the sangha to show our appreciation. We may offer a khata, a card of thanks, and/or a monetary offering.

Stay in the gompa after offering your khata for a group photo with Khensur Rinpoche!

All are welcome and encouraged to attend the White Tara Long Life empowerment!  Students may choose to take the empowerment as a blessing only or to receive the full empowerment ~ see below for requirements.

The White Tara empowerment will begin at 10:30 am on Sunday, Nov 27, and will continue for several hours, with a lunch break as needed. Khensur Rinpoche will determine the ending time.

Students who choose to receive the full empowerment:

  • Must attend in person at Kadampa Center.
  • Must have taken refuge.
  • Should avoid eating black foods - meat, eggs, radishes and anything in the onion family - in the morning before the empowerment.
  • Should understand that taking the full empowerment includes taking bodhisattva vows ~ which will be given during the initiation.
  • Should have a good intellectual understanding of the three principal aspects of the path.

Students who take the empowerment as a blessing:

  • Do not need to take refuge or any vows.
  • May attend in person, online via Zoom or via live stream on YouTube   Register here for  Zoom.  (note: the recording of the YouTube live stream will NOT be saved or available to view after the initiation).
  • Khensur Rinpoche highly encourages students (who are NOT receiving the full empowerment) to take the empowerment as a blessing, as this is still a rare and very auspicious opportunity.

Sera Jey Khensur Rinpoche Jetsun Lobsang Delek, the former abbot of Sera Jey Monastic University in southern India and of Gyüme Tantric College, one of the foremost teachers of the "Five Major Texts" at Sera Jey, one of the last living masters educated at Sera Jey Monastery in Tibet - and, the last living teacher of our own beloved Resident Geshes, Geshe Gelek Chodha  and Geshe Palden Sangpo - will confer this initiation.
